(August 24, 2008)  Paul Fein did well in the 2007 United States Tennis Writers' Association writing contest, placing in three categories: Service Story - 1st Place ("Playing Drop Shots," Sportstar); Hard News/Enterprise - 2nd Place ("How Successful Is the U.S. Open Series?," Sportstar); Feature Story (Pro Tennis) - 2nd Place ("Tennis for the Bloody Fun of It," The Black Rock Masters souvenir programs).

(July 28, 2008)  Roberta Sandler's new book, A Brief Guide to Florida's Monuments and Memorials, published by University Press of Florida, is now available for pre-ordering from bookstores or the publisher. (It hits bookstores mid-September). The 280-page, 90-photo book tells 82 true stories about events, places and people so significant in Florida's history that they are immortalized in monuments and memorials.

(July 18, 2008)  Prudy Taylor Board is now doing book reviews (books about Florida and by Florida authors only, no self-published books) for the Boca Raton News and The Florida Weekly. She is also now reviewing nonfiction having to do with mystery writing, as well as any mystery fiction for Suspense Magazine.

(July 12, 2008)  Barbara Florio Graham (www.SimonTeakettle.com) has sold her Christmas story to yet another foreign textbook. Voices in Time has just been published by Cappelen Damm AS in Norway. This story, which Bobbi wrote when she was 17, has now been published in four foreign textbooks as well as in Canada and the U.S. Denmark is also the 37th country where Simon Teakettle Ink appears on websites (which range across 11 time zones).

(July 1, 2008) Prudy Taylor Board has signed contracts with Donning Publishing to write histories of Harbour Ridge, Stuart, Florida; and the Sailfish Club of Florida, Palm Beach, Florida. Donning is also reprinting the books she wrote on the Belleview Biltmore and the Renaissance Vinoy.

(June 1, 2008) Ron Chepesiuk's book, Black Gangsters of Chicago, received a silver (2nd place) for the  Independent Book Publishers Association "IPPY" 2007 True Crime Book of the Year. His book, Gangsters of Harlem, was awarded  an honorable mention (fourth place) in the Foreword Magazine's 2007 True Crime Book of the Year. The third book Ron published in 2007, Drug Lords, the Rise and Fall of the Cali Cartel, was a finalist for the Foreword Magazine Award.

(May 27, 2008) Frank G Anderson, an American writer living in Nakhonratchasima, NE Thailand, now has a weekly column with UPIAsiaOnline.com titled "Thai Traditions." While this particular market is non-paying, it is an affiliate of UPI and as such, has considerable exposure opportunity.
